Stainless steel sanitary filters that must be mentioned

The concern for maintaining hygiene and cleanliness is much higher in specific industries such as food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, etc. compared to certain other industries. Therefore, we need to use sanitary filters to keep them clean at all times. Before we understand how sanitary filters work and the different types of sanitary filters, we must first have a clear understanding of what a sanitary filter is.

What is a sanitary filter?

The main purpose of a sanitary filter is to remove any fine particulate matter from the liquid or gas flowing through the filter. As the liquid or gas passes through the filter’s screen, the filter removes all impurities from it. Therefore, the final liquid or gas released by the sanitary filter is free of all contaminants. The primary purpose of a sanitary filter is to maintain the cleanliness of the facility or place of use.

How do sanitary filters work?

All sanitary filters use a media which can be used to separate particulate matter from gases and liquids. Typically, all sanitary filters for auxiliary services consist of an outlet and inlet housing and an internal porous screen that effectively removes all impurities. The fluid flows through the filter mainly through the pressure difference generated inside the filter. The fluid flows from the high-pressure area inside the filter to the low-pressure area, thus leaving behind particulate matter.

What are the different types of sanitary filters?

1.Straight Type Filter

The working principle of the straight filter is exactly the same as that of the angle filter. However, unlike the angle filter, the straight filter is installed in a manner similar to a spool, with both ends securely placed in the fitting. The grid is designed in such a way that it will not clog easily. However, angled filters are often preferred because they are easier to clean and maintain.

2.Angle Filter

The angular filter works on the same principle as any other type of sanitary filter. However, in this type of sanitary filter, there is no need to remove the filter from the pipe. All that has to be done is to loosen the nut or secure the screen to the strainer and remove the screen. After the screen is removed, clean and replace it. For angle type filters, the mesh count ranges from 30 mesh to 300 mesh and the mesh size ranges from 0.5 mm to 2.0 mm. These filters can easily withstand a temperature range of -10 degrees Celsius to 120 degrees Celsius. Angular filters can withstand a maximum pressure range of 145 psi or 10 bar.

3.Y-type Filter

Y-filters are typically used in applications that require an additional layer of particle filtration. These types of filters can be cleaned in-line. Therefore, the operator can clean the system without having to remove it from the wall. In addition, these filters support bi-directional flow and 360 degree mounting. This construction is usually rugged and durable, so these filters can easily last for many years. Many people choose sanitary Y-filters simply because they are available in many different sizes and offer additional safety protection.

4.Micron Filter

The micron filter is a powerful filter that easily removes particles and bacteria larger than 0.1μm in size from liquids and gases. And. For sanitary micron filters, users can choose from a variety of materials depending on the purpose. Micron filters are also powerful enough to treat exhaust gases to a degree that the gas is considered to meet HIM standards. Similarly, these types of filters can completely destroy the bacteria present in fermentation applications.
