Why use sanitary constant pressure valves

What is a sanitary constant pressure valve?

Sanitary constant pressure valves are safety valves used to ensure pressure stability at the inlet and outlet points of a system under various operating conditions. They are used in heat exchangers, water tanks and separator equipment. When used in sanitary operations, they can be used to keep systems at a constant pressure regardless of fluctuating operating conditions in the biopharmaceutical, cosmetic, food and beverage and personal care industries.

Constant pressure valves are used to keep systems operating under a variety of conditions, thereby eliminating the risk of delayed function or functional breakdown due to changes in environmental settings. They can also be used as pressure relief valves to ensure safe and reliable performance when opened to discharge excess pressure built up in the system and to prevent pipe bursts, injuries and operational failures. Sanitary constant pressure valves are an inexpensive alternative to other modulating control valves because they lack additional sensing and control functions, relying instead on the compressed air supply alone to regulate system pressure accordingly. By utilizing a number of internal features, unrestricted access and unique plunger orientation, they provide excellent pressure control and excellent cleanability to minimize residue and clean in place.

The working principle of sanitary constant pressure valve

Certain compressed air controls all constant pressure valves automatically and remotely. The piping system uses only the air pressure regulator and the pressure gauge as sensors. No other transmission mechanism is required.

The diaphragm and plunger are used to make the valve respond to any change in medium pressure, in either case

Regulating the spool
Keeps the spool in the proper position to maintain a preset pressure value
The pressure of the controlled medium is set using the air pressure supplied to the actuator-this is the force that keeps the valve closed.

In a constant pressure valve-V, the inlet pressure must be kept constant so that when the pressure in the system exceeds a certain preset level, the valve opens so that the pressure of the controlled medium is reduced and the flow rate remains Slow down. The valve then closes automatically when the pressure of the medium is sufficiently reduced.

In the constant pressure valve-A, the outlet pressure is the pressure that must be maintained. The valve is designed to close when the pressure of the product begins to rise above a specified level at the outlet; it opens when the pressure of the product begins to fall below the specified level.

Features and technical specifications of sanitary constant pressure valves

1.Hygienic
They are constructed without any restrictive passages that would prevent clogging. To deal with any residue, they can also feature a self-cleaning mechanism to open the valve and expel foreign material in the event of any blockage. PTFE sealing material is also corrosion resistant, which makes the valve suitable for corrosive media without affecting the valve’s inner workings.

2.Leak-proof, frictionless sealing
The primary sealing materials used are FDA 177.2600 EPDM and PTFE Teflon, while the end connections can be sanitary clamp, ISO thread, DIN thread, RJT thread or butt weld for a leak-proof pressure seal. EPDM and PTFE are also resilient, helping to absorb some shock when the valve is closed. The frictionless design also helps to open and close quickly when critical conditions are reached during daily operation.

3.Withstand extreme temperatures
Constant pressure valves are designed to help regulate system pressure in extreme temperature conditions. Depending on the seal material used, you can obtain valves that operate in the -10°C to 150°C operating temperature range.

4.Working pressure depends on the compressed air supply
Depending on the air supply, sanitary constant pressure valves can withstand working pressures of up to 8 bar, but you can get some valves that exceed this pressure, such as the pressurized SV-8 series, which is rated at 12 bar.

5.No Dead Space Design
To limit stagnation of the controlled media, sanitary constant pressure valves utilize polished steel surfaces and a unique inlet design. Some valves also align the inlet at a 90A angle to the bottom of the valve to ensure complete drainage and easy cleaning. Seats are typically welded to the valve body to eliminate gaps and allow for thorough, easy cleaning activities.
